Perthshire is home to some of the finest inland golf courses in the world
and with 40 to choose from you'll be spoilt for choice!

Arrangements for tee times and equipment rental can be made through the hotel

Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Packages: - from £70 per person per night

Perthshire has a long golfing legacy, indeed it is ironic that James IV of Scotland, who tried to ban the game as it conflicted with archery practice, made the first recorded purchase of golfing equipment - a set of clubs from a Bow Maker in Perth in 1502!

This golfing heritage and recent course developments ensures that there is a wide range of options for golfers of all ages and abilities. Choose from scenic Highland layouts, idyllic parkland settings, world famous centres such as Gleneagles and Rosemount at Blairgowrie and many 'hidden gems' spread throughout the area. The main challenge won't be navigating your way successfully around the course, more keeping your eye on the ball amidst such stunning surroundings

Perthshire is also an excellent golfing holiday base as there are over 60 further courses in surrounding Angus, Dundee and the Kingdom of Fife including St. Andrews and Carnoustie, all of which are within 40 minutes drive from Altamount House Hotel.

The courses of the Blairgowrie Golf Club are virtually unique and have that wonderful charm found at very few courses where each hole is unaffected and untouched by another.

The combination of Heathland and Woodland provides each hole with a peace and tranquility completely unspoilt by preceding or following games.

The pine, silver birch and heather lined fairways provide a natural habitat to be enjoyed not just by the golfers, but shared with the exquisite wildlife, which includes deer and red squirrels, woodpeckers and oyster catchers to name but a few.

The Clubhouse

The Lansdowne course is more modern than the Rosemount course in layout, and offers a more challenging test. It was designed by the respected partnership of Peter Allis and Dave Thomas and was officially opened in 1979.

Also set in avenues of pine and silver birch, most fairways are lined with heather, and the course provides a challenging but pleasurable test for all levels of golfer.

18th Green at Landsdowne

The Wee Course formed part of the original layout designed by Dr. Alistair McKenzie of Augusta National and Cypress Point fame. The nine hole layout is heathland in character comprising 4 par and 5 par and provides a delightful and charming contrast to Rosemount and Lansdowne.
